Many of my garden design projects require a special element with the ‘wow factor’, be it free standing sculpture, a water feature or a piece of wall art. When choosing and suggesting options to my client, the same theory applies as when I am working on the overall garden design – it’s not about what I like or prefer –it’s about what works within the parameters of the design brief, which is driven by the client’s own preferences and tastes, and the way that they live and use their outside space.
Take a look at some of the garden pieces I have featured here. They vary greatly in their form, function and aesthetic appeal for one us compared to the next person. Yet all will fit wonderfully into a Sussex garden design at some point in some way – as long as they chime with the true sense of the garden being created.
Free standing, large scale pieces can be a wonderful focal point in a design, and water features come in some stunning forms, often with easily installed self- contained reservoirs. Wall art, such as this ceramic piece, can create a ‘room like feel’ outside.
There is always room for a price of art within a garden, so include it in your design brief, and let me find you the right piece for the right place.
