With more and more of us now living and working in urban environments, creating a small oasis out of a restricted square area is a common brief. An overlooked plot, starting out as an area of concrete or rubble, can still be transformed into a high end, ‘small but perfectly formed’ jewel. Clever screening, raised beds, artificial grass or indeed plants, can all be called upon to help with this transformation.
London City Garden
A small garden of a terraced house in SW London. The client requested a high end finish, using sawn sandstone, artificial grass and rendered raised beds. Screening is provided through the use of bespoke painted trellis and Prunus lusitanica trees. A freestanding BBQ is housed integrated in a recessed area, and the problem of bin storage is elegantly solved through a bespoke housing unit with gas spring hinges.
